Keeping Art in Our Schools

Keeping Art in Our Schools

ARTsmart New Mexico presented the Santa Fe Public School Board with a check for $40,000. Funds will connect students with local artists and provide supplies to schools challenged by budget restraints.

ARTsmart New Mexico is also piloting an arts integration program with its Visiting Artists program in pre-K classrooms. Visiting Artists introduces students and teachers to new skills, media, concepts, diverse cultures, and aesthetic frameworks. Students construct artworks that illustrate connections between their ideas and experiences with themes explored and shared by Visiting Artists.

ARTsmart’s mission is to ensure access to quality visual arts education for all youth in Santa Fe public schools and surrounding communities. For more information about ARTsmart New Mexico, visit artsmartnm.org.
