NEW MEXICO SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS

NMSA is New Mexico’s only free statewide public-arts high school that merges rigorous academics. In 2023, NMSA students surpassed state and national averages in their SAT scores—an achievement that highlights how studying the arts alongside other subjects significantly boosts student achievement. At NMSA, artists in grades 9–12 immerse themselves in their chosen discipline: creative writing and literature, dance, music, theater, or visual arts. The SFPS Work-Based Learning program is a structured internship program that collaboratively engages local high-value employers and SFPS high schools offering junior and senior students quality paid internships, job-shadowing, and mentorship experiences. Student intern benefits include participation in a boot-camp-style soft skills training pre-internship where students learn about professionalism, work ethic, effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
